Just updated my Mac to MacOS 10.15.4, there is a legacy problem. Does Eset work on it? The good thing is that GBA is simple and easy to use, however, the simplicity comes the cost of lack of features. Welcome to Mac!
As for the WWAN card (what I call an aircard) - what carrier are you currently with AND how much do you use it?
There are a lot of deals out there for these, depending on the carrier. The best you can get today is Sprint IF you live in a Sprint 4G area. You pay a premium for the service, but if it's something you really need - it's worth it. Other than that, you'll have to look at your area and what carrier best serves you and choose based on coverage, reliability and monthly cost. Personally, I don't have one for my laptop -I bought an iPad 3G for times when I need truly mobile coverage. Hard to beat their $30 monthly unlimited plan.
